We stayed here for a few nights last week to visit Franeker and watch the PC tournament. The location is good near to Franeker centre however there is no shop. The camping is part of a sports centre. We were given a key as the sanitaire is locked but this was inconvenient if one of us was having a shower and the other wanted to use the facilities, we had to wait til the other one came back. Also I put 50 cent for the shower and it took the money and I didn't get a shower, luckily I had another 50 cent but I had wanted to have a long shower and instead I had to rush. The toiletsare clean and there are lots of them. The fields are fine and its a good price. The BIG problem that we had was on our last night. We went out in the car and returned at about 11.55pm. The (high) gates were all locked. We tried everything and could not get in. We drove round to see if there was another entrance, no. We walked round to see if there was some way in. Nothing. It was pitch black and cold. I thought we would have to sleep in the car. In the end my partner climbed the fence (2 metres) and jumped down onto the other side. I couldn't do it because I have a bad ankle and I am too small. Now I was really upset. My boyfriend said he would walk round the perimiter of the campsite to find another way in. I had to wait on my own in the dark for ages until finally he appeared. He had found a way behind some buildings and through some bushes. We got to our tent at 1am, very cold and fed up. We had to leave our car, with bikes on the back, outside the camping. I really don't think this is acceptable. I complained the next day, The receptionist was very apologetic. She said they don't control the camping. Some people who live on the camping manage it, and they had decided to lock the gates. I don't know why, it was a Friday night and people will want to go out late.
